Empowering Voters. Defending Democracy.
Looking to reprioritize where you invest your energy? Consider joining the League of Women Voters. We are a 100 year old organization which began during the women's suffrage to give female voters a way to organize around their new civic right.
Most people are drawn to the League because it is nonpartisan - it doesn't weigh in party politics, but it does take a stand on issues, usually progressive ones.
The purpose of the League is to engender active citizenship. We encourage voting and championing civic discourse, putting our voting guides in the community and sponsoring political debates at all levels of government.

Advocacy
Successfully impacting local or state legislative outcome or regulatory problem

"It's important to have a forum of citizens who represent a diverse set of perspectives, work and life experiences, as well as religious and cultural differences from the same commnity --who are able to step out of their self-defined silos to factually and reasonably consider issues that affect us all. After all, we're neighbors."
